Monday, 31 January 2005 5:06pm (GMT+7) : First Update 2005

Sooo it’s been a long time, 4 months to be precise? What can I say the high season was slow things picked up a little in September, but we got washed out in October (It rained heavily every weekend?) and they had a “Vegetarian Festival” Not just the obvious but this is bundled with sticking metal objects thru you face, throwing fireworks not having sex and worse off all no alcohol, as 95% of our customers are Thai this came as quite a shock ;-( ………

So all in all October didn’t live up to expectations, so we then started looking forward to November official start of high season? This seemed to be a bit of a slow burner to although things got marginally better, but for some reason we had lost the momentum we had gained by the end of September (The last weekend of September we had 200 people in on Sat night) …

But what can you do we decided to start promoting with flyers (Something we had been very hesitant about doing as then you have no control over the customers your attracting) and as we have to rely on Thai staff to flyer this can be a worrying prospect as their idea of respectable falange differs somewhat with ours.

So the following month was spent trying to control the Thai staff and teaching them the art of flyering …Like not running up behind people and scaring the shit out of them…Also as Stuart has the car he and Anda (Thai Staff) took laminated flyers and tracked down the taxi/ tuk tuk/ limousine/ mini bus, drivers and offering commission 100 Baht per head to bring people to the club.

During the end of Nov beginning Dec things started to look better Tuk Tuk’s and Taxis were arriving with customers.

Jane and friend Helen (Big shout out to you both) came out for the last two weeks of November, did a bit of island hopping Phi Phi ect and helped us promote the club, either by word of mouth or by adding to the atmosphere of the club by DANCIN & ROMANCIN…………..

It was sad to see the girls go, but only ten days until my sister and her friend Angela arrived and luckily had travelled Phi Phi and Koh Lanta the week before Christmas. They came back just to spend chrimbo and New Year with me?......Ahhh

Sooooo Christmas night went well got extremely hammered as you do and finally passed out at around 7am me downstairs and the girls upstairs.....3 hours later and I am woken by a very loud banging on the door and can just make out the landlady as she rushed off? at the same time Alex (My Sister) is running down the stairs we both reach the door at the same time fling it open............................ to see four hundred million tons of water rushing towards the house....Slight exaggeration, but shit loads of water coming towards me house...We were both frozen really...still pissed and still asleep so we just watched as this body of water travelled ever nearer the house and literally kissed the door step and flowed back in the direction it had come? Still in a bit of shock as now my rustic little scene in front of the house was full of Flotsam and Jetsam.

Any way loads of stuff like Buoys, polystyrene floats, small boats, long tail boats and loads of fish flapping around in the sand?... so by this point Angela had come down from upstairs and said she had woken just before the banging on the door because of this strange noise? Must have been the rush of water as we now believe the tide first went out some few hundred yards/meters? Then came rushing back.... Luckily I live on the east coast of the island and the main Tsunami came from the west so the fact that I could not afford a house on the expensive west coast could be seen as fate?

Then as you do Alex and I walked down to where the beach had been but the sea had not gone out that far so no beach just loads of stuff floating around, Then this French guy in trunks wades through the water (We had met him on the beach on Christmas day) look of shock on his face but he seemed unharmed? A few words passed between us then he turned around and started to walk back in the direction of his house (Down the nice end of the beach?) so Alex and I walked back to the house, as we stepped onto the threshold we turned to see another Wave/swell heading towards the house, this one not quite so strong as the first but if we had been standing where we were 30 seconds before/ we would certainly have been thrown around amongst the debris's in the water????...

So then in classic Disco behaviour I laid down on my bed and crashed out for 4 hours? The girls went round to Panwa beach resort for some breakky and didn't hear any talk of Tsunami just a few people looking out at the bay which now had a few sand dunes in the middle of it?

It wasn't until around 3:30 that we made it into town, the girls went to the hospital as Angela had a small rash on her shoulders and I went to Adams to check emails, then I discovered that a large wave had hit Phuket and the South East Asian Area? But still no idea of the hugeness of it all....the Adam called from downstairs saying come and listen to this? So I Went down to the living room and Adam is listening to the TV? (Perfect timing the TV broke the day before so you can hear BBC but can't see it?)

I then rang me Mum & Dad ...woke them up to tell them we were ok....Mumbles of What? OK? Why? and I just said a large wave had hit Phuket and that they should watch the news?

Then Stuart calls sounding very hung over asking what time is it (Unaware of what has happened) So I calmly tell him 3:30ish but by the way did you know that Phuket is being Evacuated??? To which a Hushed WHAT? Was the reply before the phone went dead.

So at this time Alex and Angela have arrived at the hospital and are wondering why all these people have got bandages all over there legs and arms?......and presume Ejits on motorbikes having accidents? The went unto the second floor where the very plush skin centre is, I think not until they came out of the hospital did they realize something was up but still no idea of the scale of the whole thing?

Stuart arrives at Adams and we decide to go to higher ground and see if anything can be seen.....but no luck there all the higher ground has been taken over by the locals who are all shitting it by now?

Still not having seen any TV footage we are all still blissfully unaware of the massive tragedy that had come down on South East Asia? In fact it wasn't until 2 days later Stuart, myself, Alex and Angela drove to the north of the island and looked at the beaches up there ...you could see that the water had come in 1 maybe 200 meters but as there is no development on those beaches they looked fine a bit messy but mainly the same as before, so this leads you mind to wonder is this all media hype?

That evening (28th) I was at the club early 8pm-ish with Alex and Angela when Stuart walked in Ashen faced and said he had just looked at some pictures Adam had taken in Patong...You could see he was really shocked, so the following day Stu and I drove to the south of the Island and worked our way up to Patong.. the destruction on the more southern beaches was noticeable but compared to Patong insignificant all the buildings on the beach road where either gone or half demolished (I'm sure you have seen more than I have as I still have not had a TV or the time to sit and watch the news for an hour or so?)

Listen once again I'm out of time, quick round up of other questions, I don't know anyone directly who has been killed but many people I know have lost family members? The club is struggling but we still feel it has a future? Having cut cost massively, down from 15 staff to 7 and no more flowers every week, plus we now close two days a week Mon/Tue saves on the old lekky bill also gives Stuart and I a chance to relax? Phuket town is still quite but the locals are coming back last weekend was good fun and the club felt like the old vibe was back, so although it’s tough we have to look on the bright side, Phuket town festival starts in a week along with Chinese new year and the 14th Feb will be our year anniversary?

So that’s a very quick round up of the last 4 months I can’t say it’s been easy but for life experience you can’t beet it? Hopefully will be back around July for a month ? lets hope we can keep Seua Saming sailing for another year or more!

Wednesday, 15 September 2004 7:51pm (GMT+7) : 7 Months ............ Nearly 8

Many moons ago, in a land far far away two friends met on a wet and windy august nite, they walked the streets of W1 untill they came upon a bar, which they knew, and received many free drinks from the management? after this lubrication much bollocks and many stories began to arise, one such story was about a sexy, smoky, luxurious, club on a far flung tropical island, the kind of place you might meet 007 or even Clarke Gable if he was still alive?. That evening one friend flew to Thailand home of the lady boy and his family? Two months later the other friend paid a visit to this tropical land partly for a vacation and partly for business…on inspection of the Island known as Phuket he found it to be quite beautiful and tropical and even smoky & luxurious in places…on his return to ole Blighty his mind was made up Sun, Sand & sexy smoky clubs would be his future.

A few months later his television career behind him, He embarked on a new career as Owner/Manager Of Seua Saming. This club was opened on the 14th Febuary 2004 and now six months later through some sweat, blood and a few tears the mighty Seua Saming flies her flag high, quite literally the only place to go on a weekend for socializing, Dancing and a rockin’ good time ;-) …….Long Live Seua Saming may she sail the good times for many years to come…….

Now on the edge of the high season all her crew a busy preparing, training making sure each crew member know’s his or her place when the hordes begin to fill her up.

Already the more affluent of the Thais and the resident westerners (Farange) are back from their summer trips or to their various other abode’s around the world, wallets full from business deals and awaiting more as the tourist’s begin to arrive. But Seua Saming is a discerning lady and only allows the best to enter her doors, soon membership comes into place and a fee for none members will entice them thru the doors to see what they have been missing. Soon her galley will be finished, feeding the elite with tasty morsels from land and sea. So the future is bright the future is Blue?…Well kinda turquoise really……

As for meself you may av’ erd’ that I now live in a small house on the beach which is very quickly becoming my little haven from the hectic life I lead in Phuket City, Still working long hours mainly on the weekend, but have got it down to a max 14hrs generally 12 ;-)…..also I managed to take a break from Phuket island for the first time in six months? I took a bus with a young lady friend (See website & Pics) to Surrathani about 7 hrs journey time from Phuket city, then waited an hour for our ferry as we had just missed the last one by 2 mins ;-( On arrival on Koh Samui we were taken to the Big Buddha beach and found a nice aircon room, along the way we meet two girls from Canada who had been traveling all over Asia so spent the first night listening to their stories, Infact I passed out at around 10pm and slept until 12 the next day to the annoyance of my traveling partner..;-) ..That day we traveled around Koh Samui on a scooter, unfortunately the sun did not have his hat on? As we were to discover for the next few days…We decided to take a boat over to Koh Phang-nan home of the Full Moon party which was going off in a few days time, Strangely enough not on the full moon as this fell on a Buddhist day meaning alcohol can not be sold?…..Whilst waiting for the boat over to Koh Phang-nan we asked some people if they new any where good to stay on the island immediately this English guy and his Thai girlfriend started chirping on about a place called Field Paradise 20 mins from the main town Hadd Rin ..On arrival we jumped a pickup disguised as a cab and filled like a sardine tin? Which took us on a journey to be remembered…if you ever go to Koh Phang-nan be warned the road out of Hadd Rin is stomach turning to say the least, just think of the most twisted roller coaster you’ve ever been on and you somewhere near only difference is it’s a two way road and only wide enough for one? Anyway added excitement every time we went into town.

On arrival at field Paradise a very quite and relaxed place (Just what the doctor ordered) we pulled up a stool at the bar and asked if they had any rooms…. unfortunately not ;-( but the neighboring bungalows did so we stayed in a 2 bed wooden house on the beach fro 250 baht (Around 3 pounds fifty)(Sorry no pound sign on this keyboard?) That night The Family at Field Paradise were having a barbecue and they invited us…..so we chilled on the beach and ate fresh fish and meat of the Barby swilled down with ice cold beer and G’n’T and got to meet the other residents of the beach huts all of whom where pretty cool a bunch of Dutch guys who kept me laughing all night just with there accents a bunch of young kids? from Aberdeen and an assortment of other nationalities, also smoked me first doob in Thailand went to bed shortly after.

The next day we moved to Field Paradise a smaller room but now only 200 baht a night…. Unfortunately the weather was still against us Short rain showers but overcast all day so I took it apon myself to go for a drive round the island and check out some sights, See pics on web site…. The following day was Full Moon Party Day/night…. The evening started quite innocuously, a few beers leading to a few GnT’s and this was before we even got to the beach, on arriving in Hadd Rin @ 01.00am after the fun of the taxi journey with Noi our stoned driver? The place was packed/rammed/seriously full I hadn’t seen so many farange in one place for over six months…..so we squeezed ourselves down the narrow streets towards the beach, even more people staggering around with small buckets full of whatever spirit you want and ten straws poking out the top, these only cost 200 baht and get you seriously pissed? Needles to say I drank to many, The beach was choker a wild gestimate would be between 6 – 10,000 people? …. After a few hours bar hoping along the beach I spotted a floating bar with lights and what seemed to be a serious party going off….You know when you’re a bit pissed and you get something in your head, and nothing will stop you from getting it? Well 40 mins later I was still trying to get a longtail boat out to the bar but to no avail, they all kept saying that the bar is full? Anyway I had to give up when the boats started returning from the bar as they had run out of booze ;-( ..

Then I had to track down Brandi and the rest of the gang, found them on the beach watching around 10-15 people Fire Dancing (No health & Safety here) was cool and I have some MPEG movies of it will try to send in emails? About 6am I was feeling slightly worse for wear and grabbed my companions and jumped a taxi back top the beach hut…strangely I woke up at 10am feeling fine only to find the rest of the gang still on the beach looking seriously ruff? Still nothing that a breakfast roll from the 24 hour kitchen couldn’t fix….the following few days were spent either sheltering from the rain or grabbing the rays when you could, checked out a few other places around the island, then on the penultimate day we had sunshine …ALL DAY… so we chilled all day sipping Fruit shakes and feasting on fresh water melon very cool end to my stay on Koh Phang-nan …. Although the Scottish contingent fried themselves a tad ;-) … The following day we caught the boat back to Koh Samui mid afternoon, very pleasant trip over, calm seas and sunshine….On arrival on Samui I decided it was time for some luxury so we headed north (nearer the main port) and booked into a Spa!!! The Natural Wings Spa ……..Luxury rooms AirCon, Hot water shower, TV?, and mini Bar ;-) Also swimming pool and Jacuzzi all very nice indeed and well deserved …Thank the lord for Credit cards…..That evening we had some bad news ….. the boat and bus journey home was looking very shaky couldn’t get ant details out of our travel agent? …So once again the Credit card came to the rescue and purchased Airline tickets to Phuket …cutting our journey time from 8+ hours to 45 mins only downfall was that we had to get up at 7am ;-( …That night we had dinner on the beach (See photo’s on site) and relaxed in our luxury room and had an early night? (Yeah Right) Samui Airport is cool, it’s as if Fantasy Island had an airport? (See Pics) On arrival in Phuket Town @ 11am after grabbing a quick lunch it was straight back to work and preparing for the weekend….Oooh nearly forgot I got my first Thai Tattoo…? Nice marking on my right calf muscle….about half way up …almost exactly the same height as the exhaust pipe on my Honda Wave 110cc … Ouch but seems to have healed up well now..

Some of you may know that Becky & her new Bo Alex gave me a surprise visit at the club a month or so ago….big shout out to them and hope the rest of their honey moon rocked?…..Talking of visiting friends Lee & Vicks are in Thailand at the Mo we hooked up last week for a Sunday roast in the Green man bit sad I know but it was raining so we felt right at home …I know they went onto the main land to see the jungle and managed to get friendly with some leeches..;-( ..lets hope for better weather this Sunday as I hope to take them surfing on Kata Beach…..)

So September has begun and We (Club Management) have decided to spend spend spend!!! We have ordered 12 new Chinese style bar stools, we are fitting out a small kitchen which should be up and running in 2-3 weeks, also we just fitted two new Chinese Lanterns into the back of the Tiger bar area…They look cool (Check Site For Pics) Also we are having a new AC unit fitted into the tiger bar (Gets seriously Fucking Hot On Fri/Sat’s) and should be building a raised platform under the new lanterns in the next week or so…. Basically getting ready for the high season before it lands on us… So lets hope the establishment keep on coming and spending?.

Mini update within an update, 13th Sept Stu’s brother has been moved to Singapore, which is great news as they have far better facilities for his type of injuries over there, So Stu has flown over to help him and his mother settle in and is then taking a well earned break to Bali and other places? So this leaves the Disco in full charge for 2 weeks, looking forward to the challenge I’m sure I can make 11 bunches of Gladioli look as good as Frosty!! But I am sure this will mean my daily hrs will be going up dramatically ;-) so as well as running the club I’ve got Six dogs to feed and exercise 15 tropical fish to keep alive and I’ve got to wash and feed myself? Still got a date on Saturday She’s from Bangkok, speaks fluent English,(main reason I agreed to seeing her in the first place?) has her own car and lives in a big flash house……Not sure what she will make of my beach hut and 110cc scooter ;-) but will let you know…..

Well think that’s about it…sure there’s more but me brain has just crashed

Luv U Like Fat Boys Luv Cake…..

Thursday, 1 July 2004 5:38pm (GMT+7) : Officially The Big One!!!

So 4 months down the line and where do I find myself, I certainly seem to have immersed myself into Thai life … already speaking the lingo NOT! The language is just a tad different from English that’s why every word or name has 3 or 4 ways of spelling it in English so you end up with 3 or 4 different ways of pronouncing it? Which doesn’t help with being understood, Last week I had to go back to the prison to take some food and bits and pieces to Jason the only other Falange inside luckily when I was inside the guards saw fit to place us in the same cell along with 50 Thaïs, anyway it took 30 mins and we visited 3 English speaking friends of the taxi driver before my pronunciation of dajam? Was understood this was also backed up with lots of gesticulation and a few drawings of me behind bars but unless you pronounce the word exactly right your in big trouble;-).

If you have checked the site recently you will have spotted the new pics titled “another brick in the wall” We decided that although the club looked good as you came in, you could also immediately tell if the club was empty so by creating a very plush reception area this forces the punter all around the club through the VIP lounge past the Long bar and into the club area before you know if the place is packed or not, this also means you have to go all the way back to get out witch means passing the Long bar again witch invariably means grabbing a drink, Also this new wall creates a cool funky little club area @ the back of the club witch we hope will work really well and feel sexy and Smokey?, over the last 3 weeks our trade has been picking up witch is great news seeing as it is the beginning of the low season but still the numbers aren’t fantastic but we’re pretty confident that by the start of the high season we should be rockin it ;-)

Last week I had one of my fist days of although this only started @ 7 in the evening, but anyway I had booked a ticket to go to the first comedy club ever to be held in Phuket @ the Watermark a restaurant bar in an area called The Boat Lagoon, V Posh and the bar has mooring’s for big flash power launches witch are moored almost inside the bar witch added an edge to the dinning experience, I picked up my ticket on arrival and was given a table number, luckily I knew one of my table guests a guy called Alisdair Forbes sounds posh but he’s a great guy much older and the editor for the local English paper The Phuket Gazette, He wrote a fantastic article on Seua Saming 3 months ago…. Anyway everyone else at my table knew who I was unfortunately they were all English ladies of the larger variety but hey don’t count your chickens…? So after an above average buffet and a few stiff G n T’s we moved into the “Comedy” area All of the comedians came from England 2 of whom I have seen years ago in the old Macccano club and the Red Rose, I foolishly sat close to the front near an American in a Day-Glo Hawaiian and a Large German with a minute Thai wife, So knew I was in for some ribbin’….. The show was very funny and although I was picked on I got off lightly compared to my American & German compatriots though I did get Suea Saming mentioned on stage by 2 of the comedians ;-)… So after the fun & games had finished I did the dutiful thing and did the rounds chatting, flirting and generally havin a giggle with the 150 bods that had stayed on for the after show entertainment EI some bird and her boyfriend trying to cover songs from the bangles to Blondie? … So at about 3am the manger, the chief and some girl drove or should I say veered our way down to Patong to find some late night frivolity? * hours later I woke up in a strange bed with a banging headache witch soon stepped into time with my phone and Stuart reminding me we had a meeting with a lawyer in 1 hour on the other side of the island, aah the life of a club owner ;-)..

Did you know Thailand Tourism has a strap line that they like to stick on every piece of promotion material they print it goes something like this “AMAZING THAILAND” this lead me to thinking what do they mean? Amazing landscapes, Amazing Archeology, Amazing coast lines, Amazing nightlife, Amazing people, Amazing wildlife or Amazingly corrupt, Amazingly Slow, Amazingly Smelly, Amazingly Sweaty, Amazingly cheap, Amazingly hot, Amazingly Amazing, either way you probably couldn’t come up with a more apt strap line.

Had my second day off last week and went to FANTASEA a truly thai experience NOT well at least the themed park which you wonder around for the first 2 hours is way more Disney than Thailand although I did spot the odd elephant and Chang & Eng famous Siamese twins from years ago and have now been transformed into a comedy duo? But the buffet/restaurant was cool and absolutely massive and the show in the Elephant palace was pretty good a bit sparse in places but overall an entertaining evening…

Think I have found my dream home? Ickle 1 bed on the F***ing Beach, infact on it’s own private beach which hasn’t even got a name, so I was contemplating “Disco Bay” Suggestions in an email please…Will post a picy when I confirm my contract?….Sooooo the last 5 weeks have been real hectic as we seem to have cracked the weekend trade, been getting over 1 hundred on both Sat & Fri and rockin till 2am really great vibe to, not sure what the thais think of my dancing though as they generally don’t have an once of rhythm, seriously they can’t decipher all the different sounds so just leap about to every beat which makes for quite an entertaining sight..;-)

Anyway think this update has gotten long enough miss you all like CoCo Pops @ 2am “There soooo chocolaty they even turn the milk brown” Luv U Luv Me Disco XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Thursday, 6 May 2004 5:22pm (GMT+7) : Officially The Third Update

Sabaddi Mai, How Do? Ok crikey where to start, Its been about a month since my last update and many things have happened, to start with I am now officially hot property wit the ladeez and having paid to visit to HRH Prison of Thailand, on a technicality of course my reputation preceeds me? Still working like a burmese construction worker minimum 15 Hr days but loving every minute of it, learning every day, not only how to run a club from opening time to closing but keeping the fridges stocked, fixing lights, plumbing, funiture, tiling, flooring, varnishing, uniforms, organising holidays, sick days, lateness, telling people what to do (In the nicest possible way of course) dealing with irrate customers, dealing with overly nice customers, dealing with business customers, dealing with rich customers, dealing with fucking rich customers? Dealing, interacting, laughing, joking, flirting, dancing, drinking, drinking and more drinking!!! think I am a professional drinker now? the scary part is that I've only been drunk about 4 times since I arrived? most be drinking wossy Hieneken mixed down with my favorite Bombay.....

So if you have been keeping up to date with the site you will have spoted the home sweet home's album, for the first month I stayed @ Marlena's Stu's mums house wich I dont yet have a picture of? I then moved onto Patra Mansions which was like living in a hotel but did the job for the month I was there, now I have my own little padin Phuket Villa Sam(3) 10-15 mins from the club its a 2 bed 1 livingroom 1 kitchen(consisting a tap sticking out of the wall?) 1 toilete wich up untill yesterday I was sharing with DJ Sit but he has a friend who has work problems and he has now moved in with her, so Disco's Crib is soon to be unvield as the party destination after Seua Saming of course....

Talking of the club for the last two weeks we have been shutting at 12 (Sib Song) as the local bobbys have been cracking down (Long story can't explain in an open email) but as of today back to 2 (Song) been feeling pretty confidant that the club will take off given time I estimate 3 - 6 months and we should be rockin. Some bad news, Graham Stuart & Adam's Older brother had a really bad car accident with his girlfriend out in the countryside about 2-3 hours from Phuket and has been unconscious for over a week, he is over the worst as there has been no need for brain surgery but it's been a great worry for the family...On the upside this has meant I have been left to look after the club on my own and this means the car as well, so when I have had a few hours here and there I quick burn up and down the coast is all it takes to realese the stresses of running the best club on the island.......even managed to catch DJ Sit playing football for a team called peppers against Dulwich college? Yes the very same, thay have a replica building out in the middle of the island with sports grounds as far as the eye can see, also met some of the female teachers, wife's and girlfriends watching the game , so had to hand out a few business cards, and even got a lift back home after the game ;-)

Loving downloading from the net, quite amazing the collection of music one can create when one puts one's mind to it....So I think thats it difficult to focus me mind when you've got a time limit hope it keeps you guys up to date and wanting more, I suggest you get your arse's over here ASAP...LUV U LUV ME ..... Miss U All Like An Ice Cold Pint Of Stella...;-)

Saturday, 3 April 2004 11:39am (GMT+7) : Officially The Second Update!

Easy, Saawadi Cup (Hello/Greeting) How Do....Well its been a while things have changed the weather is shifting, Its been 43 degrees for the last week but we've had a few tropical down pours which leads me to my first story...

The Leaking Roof for those of you who have looked at the pics of the venue in the early days you will have noticed both shop units had an open skylight! both of which have now been boarded up and some guttering/drainage fitted, unfortunately the drainage seems to have been built for that fine rain you get on the costa del sol you know that fine rain "goes right through ya" "Oooh it's tryin, it's trying" Not the torrential downpours of the tropics.....sorry I digress So the roof leaks big time all over my new long bar ;-( So we had the builders back again jumping around the roof no safety just a pair of flip flops a t-shirt wrapped around thier heads and 40 meters of pvc pipeing and tin guttering which needs soldering together, so they balance a gas cannisteron an angeled roof tile supported with a hammer? and start heating up soldering irons....it really was amazing to watch and I think they only burnt themselves a few times ;-) ........

so since the grand opening some things have changed I had to fil my DJ line manager boots and fire DJ Num Cos he was crap....he just didn't seem to understand the music policy or the concept of volume control when you've got a few people chatting at the bar and he drops a duff duff tune at full volume ... He was also a bit of a surly fellow .... but still not the easiest/nicest thing I have had to do since my arrival .. although it meant we were able to take onboard DJ Sit a funky Dj who has played in Bangkok for the last few years and this boy can mix (watch out DJ's Hooligan, Giles, Dean, ECT) just ask Scramble he's cool and has a great sense of humour and pulled a clever trick to promote himself to Seua Saming .. on the Grand opening night he brought a bouquet of flowers with a message saying Congrats from DJ Sit and he's number, very sharp I thought anyway he's been teaching me how to DJ and helping DJ Mint our other DJ how to mix, so as I'm not so keen on living on my own I asked him if he could find a house for us to share, (take that smirk off you faces he's one hundred percent hetrosexual.....) which he duly did a nice 2 bed bungalow on the outskirts of Phuket City ( did I not mention we now have City status must have had somthing to do with my arrival)a place called Phuket villas and its got a communal pool which is just 30 seconds from our place, we move in today and have allready bought the paint, my room is going to be burnt orange walls and olive green curtains should be interesting...

So the club has been going from strength to strength our customer base is 25-50+ 80% Thai 20% expat(Falang) I think we've only had about 5 tourists in which is cool as we are approaching the low season, when people come in they seem to go into a trance and walk around the club open mouthed, I hope you guys like the look of the club I think it wouldn't be out of place in London, New York or Paris infact a french guy paid us a great compliment last week he said that he knew a club on the Champs Elysees which reminded him of Seua Saming as it was very PARTICULAR ( has to be said in a french accent) this comment left Stuart with a grin from ear to ear for at least 6 hours ;-)

I have recently gained a few groupies, I must admit its a bit spooky/strange when someone you've never met starts sending you text messages and then sending thier friend to the club on my birthday with a shirt? well at least the Ladeez arn't backwards about coming forward............ I suppose I should have known being Manager/Owner of the best club on the Island would attract some attention ;-) well I think thats it for now me brain is begining to sieze up and the sun has got he's hat on and I've got a bottle of intense bronzing oil ;-) LUV U LUV ME DISCO XXXXXXXXXX

Thursday, 18 March 2004 3:54pm (GMT+7) : Officially The First Update

Hello and welcome to the wonderfull world of DISCO....So 6 weeks in and I finally get the chance to sit in front of the computer for more than a nano second and off course my brain goes blank? what have I been doing one askes oneself...

Well I arrived on the 5th of Feb and was picked up by Stuart at the airport and driven straight to the club, WOW even with no funiture and shit loads of building crap strewn about the place you could allready see the potential and I thank Stu & Adam for working so hard on my behalf to get the club in such good shape for my arrival. so the first few weeks consisted of getting up at around 6 getting down to the club by Motobike taxi and letting in the various builders, painters, electricians, plasterers, plumbers Ect....while Stuart had all the fun of going shopping for furniture and of course the booze ;-)

So slowly the club began to take shape I spent a lot of time finishing off the painting work wich by english standards ( or should I say Knowles standards) was pretty shoddy and at least i know that behind the silk curtains and under the stairs the walls are painted even if the punters can't see it. So as you all know I was nursing quite a large hangover/body shake due to a few nights on the town in the few months/years before my departure so this was not helping my energy levels but a few days before our grand opening (27th Feb) some friends of mine arrived in Phuket (Big shout out to George and MC Ben) which allowed me to take a day off.....Ahh the healing qualitys of a day on the beach and the luxury of a chauffer driven car with neon lights and a boomin sound system ... truly remarkable ;-)

So We did open on the 14th feb and had a soft opening for 2 weeks and were pleasantly surprised at the number of customers checking the place out as we had done no addvertising or marketing, but mabey this was to do with our two burly doormen outside as no other club/bar/niteclub has doormen on the island?? ...

Things ran reasonably smoothly for the first few weeks what with training the staff we allready had and interviewing and hireing new ones .. nice work when thier all fine young fillys but this was not allways the case ;-) so by the night of the grand opening and having sent out invitations to all the most important and fashonable people on the island we had 12 staff and 3 partners nervously waiting for the first customers to arrive around 9ish on Friday the 27th .......... well no pressure no fear by 9:30 we had 75 people and the staff were allready feeling the presure by 10:30 with over 200 people wanting drinks NOW!! things were getting a little hectic but never fear when the DISCO is near, I boldly stepped into bar tender/supervisor/cocktail maker/customer pleaser and worked like a dog for over 2 hours .. now those of you who have worked behind a bar may sniff at 2 hours but i have NEVER EVER worked behind a bar in my life .... but i have to admit allthough I was sweating like a pig if I dont mind saying so myself I EXCELLED ;-) so after my stint behind the bar came to an end and i told Adam that I thought it might be his & Stuarts turn I retreated to the safety of the street outside for a few ice cold beers and about 5 fags ( By the way I seem to have developed a nasty 20 a day habit?) so apart from the odd irate Falange ( Foriegner ) everybody enjoyed themselves and all the gossip was about the decor the drinks list and the doormen now known as the flip flop police, the evening was never meant to be a finacial succes and it certainly wasn't but as a big bang to tell Phuket that Seua Saming had landed it did the trick, ohh and i forgot to tell you the ladies are fine and I mean fine I think I have fallen in love with a girl called shi shi .. she speaks perfect english and runs her own property business in Phuket...and she likes sexy dresses and low low cut jeans ;-# anyway thats all for now folks me fingers are siezing up hope you are all well ... and I suggest you come to Phuket and Live la vida loca wit da Disco Peace Out XXXXX
